Like Writing? Come on, get to know BAPEMA Cakrawala FEB UMJ

Who wants to be a reporter or news reporter? First, take a look at this information about the Cakrawala Student Press Agency (BAPEMA), Faculty of Economics and Business, Muhammadiyah University, Jakarta (FEB UMJ) .

This institution, which has existed since 1994, is specifically for FEB UMJ students who want to hone their skills and creativity in the field of journalism. Initially BAPEMA Cakrawala only produced news in print media, but with the development of technology and digital media, BAPEMA Cakrawala's information channels have now expanded to digital media, such as YouTube and Instagram .

Even though it is within the FEB environment, the journalistic writing and video products produced by BAPEMA Cakrawala are not limited to the economic sector alone. Usually the news produced is about activities on the UMJ campus, especially FEB, and is published on the official BAPEMA Cakrawala website. Apart from news, BAPEMA Cakrawala members also produce other digital content, such as reports, podcasts and travel programs broadcast on the YouTube channel.

In producing news and programs, BAPEMA Cakrawala members are equipped with various knowledge related to journalism and media. Before officially becoming members, students must take part in the Basic Journalism Training program, where they receive training on the basics of journalism.

In the next stage, BAPEMA Cakrawala members are given routine annual training. One of them is up grading , where the training content provided is public speaking, news writing, photography, videography, video editing, and others.

M. Zikri Khaidir Y's report in the Cakra News Report program broadcast on the BAPEMA Cakrawala Youtube channel, January 25 2022.

BAPEMA Cakrawala members receive direct guidance from alumni who have careers in the world of journalism and mass media. According to BAPEMA Cakrawala members, Tania Putri Rachmawati and Oktari Handayani, members will also learn a lot using the learning by doing method because the knowledge gained in the training will be applied directly during reporting, interviews, reportage and content production.

Tania, who currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of BAPEMA Cakrawala, admitted that she often gets golden opportunities to interview campus leaders, such as the Dean and Chancellor. According to him, it was a valuable experience because if he were not a reporter, access to conducting interviews would not have been that easy.

Meanwhile, Okta, who is currently the General Secretary of BAPEMA Cakrawala, feels that being a reporter has encouraged him to continue learning to conduct interviews and report news.

Both of them also admitted that the skills honed at BAPEMA Cakrawala, especially writing, had a positive impact on lecture activities, especially writing papers. Doing assignments that involve writing becomes smoother because you are used to writing at BAPEMA Cakrawala.

It doesn't stop there, Tania and Okta also feel very happy being reporters because apart from carrying out coverage, both of them can enjoy their reporting duties while traveling.

Of course, for those of you FEB UMJ students who have an interest and passion in the field of journalism, you can join BAPEMA Cakrawala. Through BAPEMA Cakrawala, students can use their time to not only become consumers of digital media content but also as creators.
