UMJ FIP Lecturer Receives Doctoral Degree in Cultural Sciences

 University of Jakarta (FIP UMJ ) added one lecturer with a doctoral degree. The lecturer is Dr. Ahmad Fadly, M.Hum., who received a Doctorate in Cultural Sciences from the Faculty of Science and Culture, University of Indonesia (FIB UI ), Monday (30/10/2023).

This lecturer in Indonesian Language and Literature Education defended his dissertation entitled Evaluative Language Expressions in Scientific Articles in Indonesian at the doctoral promotion session held in Building IV FIB UI witnessed by Deputy Dean I Ismah, M.Si., all FIP UMJ lecturers, family and relatives Ahmad Fadly. For his dissertation, Ahmad Fadly received the title of Commendation from the examiners.

It is known that Ahmad Fadly conducted research for 2 years with quite large data, namely 500 scientific articles in all fields of science in nationally accredited journals indexed by SINTA. Through his research, the following results were found, first, that writers of scientific articles must put themselves in the shoes of other people.

Second, researchers must be able to ensure that subjectivity is not too high in scientific writing, which can be done in several ways, namely by avoiding expressions that originate from the outburst of the persona (subject or person).

When asked for information, Ahmad Fadly expressed his hope, "Hopefully, I can develop knowledge as has been conveyed by the promoter, developing knowledge of discourse, especially academic discourse. "Hopefully FIP UMJ can consider one of the results of my research, namely avoiding too much subjectivity in writing scientific papers."

In line with this, Vice Dean I FIP UMJ Ismah, M.Sc., hopes that Ahmad Fadly's research can be developed or create umbrella research with students. "We hope that the knowledge gained can be useful and applied in the lecture learning process," said Ismah.

Ismah explained that FIP ​​is targeting more than 50 percent of its lecturers to have doctoral degrees by 2024. "For FIP UMJ, Mr. Ahmad Fadly is the third doctor in 2023. Considering that the majority of FIP lecturers are still young, he was enthusiastic when he started doctoral studies five years ago. simultaneously. "Currently the number of lecturers with master's degrees has decreased," he concluded.
