At the press conference, Dean of FAI UMJ Dr. Sopa, M.Ag., that the conference brings together many academics and practitioners who can enrich zakat studies. "This can help develop zakat management and develop studies on the UMJ campus. "Of course it will enrich research studies for lecturers and students, especially in the FAI Zakat and Waqf Management Doctoral Study Program," he said.

In the third session on the second day, lecturer and Chair of the Islamic Education Management Study Program at the UMJ Postgraduate School, Dr. Saiful Bahri, Lc., MA., was one of the speakers at the academic and practitioner session (Arabic version).

Saiful explained the terms related to zakat, infaq and alms in the Koran. Apart from these three terms, there is another term, namely qardul hasan, which means good loan. Saiful emphasized that through zakat, humans are taught to give because in reality Allah does not need any loans.

Furthermore, Saiful said that the zakat obligations carried out through the zakat movement do not only focus on developing Human Resources (HR) but also facilities, so it is necessary to create an economic climate and productive zakat.

After two days of conducting studies involving several Indonesian Ministries, academics, practitioners and the industrial sector, the 7th ICONZ will formulate a resolution for 2024. Chief Executive of the 7th ICONZ Muhammad Hasbi Zaenal, Ph.D., explained that this conference would initiate the establishment of an international level zakat consultation institution.

Hasbi, who is also the Director of Research and Development at BAZNAS RI, explained that the institution would involve the role of the Islamic Cooperation Organization ( OIC). This is as explained by the Chairman of the Zakat Collection Center , Federal Territories Malaysia Tan Sri Dato' Sri Dr. Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman, that in this case the OIC must take a role.

According to him, if zakat is managed well by a world institution and distributed to the appropriate asnaf (8 groups of zakat recipients), the problem of poverty which affects 40 percent of the world's population can be solved.

“Islamic countries stand on oil fields, Indonesia, Malaysia and Arab countries. "If zakat from oil alone can be managed well, then the problem of poverty will be solved," he said at a press conference, Wednesday (08/11/2023).

This statement was confirmed by the CEO of Zakat Pulau Pinang Malaysia, Dr. Amran Hazali stated that the obligation of zakat as commanded by Allah in the Koran needs to be transformed into a government regulation as is the case in Malaysia.

In line with this, CEO of Shunduq Zakat Jordan Dr. Abid Smerat describes the condition of Muslims during the time of Umar bin Abdul Aziz, who were very prosperous to the point where they had difficulty getting mustahik. This is also what BAZNAS RI is aiming for so that mustahik can be transformed into muzakki.
